After studying political science at AUB, Leila Osseiran began a career in journalism. At first she was assigned to write about fashion but her talent was spotted by publisher Said Freiha who subsequently gave her the opportunity to write about a variety of subjects including the arts. Politically motivated, she took a great interest in the Palestinian case and participated in a number of demonstrations in the 1960s. Her first book, entitled "Qalaat Al Osta", was a particularly moving story on the subject of the civil war in Lebanon. Leila Osseiran married Amin Hafez, who was Prime Minister of Lebanon from April to June, 1973. Mother of prominent journalist and publisher Ramzi Hafez, Leila Osseiran passed away on April 15, 2007 leaving us memories, stories and a smile we all cherish."
